How to Receive a Food and Beverage Management Education in Switzerland

If you are an aspiring student in Food and Beverage Management and between 18 and 30 years is an excellent opportunity to work in Switzerland without thousands of dollars to go to school there. I write these lines from a Canadian perspective, but I’m sure it can be said of other countries. The way I did was very simple and very cost effective and the training I received was phenomenal.

Back in my early 20’s, I have a Bartending course that introduced me to the hotel industry. The money was great and when I brought my own life, I take this opportunity to visit a university to continue my studies in this field. I quickly realized a few years later that if I wanted in place, it was absolutely necessary that I run. What I did something that would not interfere with my work, so I took a Home Study Course in Hotel Motel Restaurant Management.

I loved and worked it out at my kitchen table for a little over 2 years to complete and graduate with flying colors. When I was a manager of bar and even though I was in a comfortable position where I worked, I wanted something more exciting.

After a brief period on a cruise ship, I returned to Montreal for a little rest and think about what I wanted. I took this course so I can go along a different route and my attempt to work on a cruise ship had left at this point.

So my time waiting for things to think about me, I decided to enroll in a full-time course that French would from January to June Meanwhile, while I meet many people at school and work on my French, I spoke with a student who was much older than me when I told him what I did, he responded back and asked me why I should not go to Switzerland to work. I was surprised by his remarks with a questioning look and mumbled how can I do?

He said that trade between Canada and Switzerland, and you should be under 30 to take advantage of them. It was all new to me, so I made some calls and got the information and sent my credentials to the government agency. I was accepted to the exchange, immediately after.

The agency was not as hopeful as they said that everything they do, my name in the newspaper on a hotel in Switzerland and that no one ever really calls or hire someone and it would be better if I had my own job search.

This was the pre-Internet way of what I did was for the Swiss Office and a travel agent Travel and said all the hotels in the French part of Switzerland and I send my CV enough for French these companies.

I remember I sent a resume and fifty received 26 rejection, but I got 1 positive reaction. The contract is for 11 months in this beautiful hotel in Montreux. It was great and I’m even back half of the season.

During these two years as I have everything one would expect if an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. The warehouse management, inventory, Maitre’d typing worksheets and then create a banquet or conference.

But the reason why I say it is not expensive, I did not pay a college or university, but instead of receiving the necessary experience for a competent manager. Yes hours, it was long, but one thing to remember is that you work in the heart of Europe, so if you can spare a few days visit in France, Germany, Austria and Italy just next door.

So to summarize you need to have some courses in hospitality, food and drink taken to be eligible for exchange in the first place. If something like if I was going to Bartending Course. I did it with a school home study entitled Granton Institute of Toronto.

Language Learning second half. Perhaps now you have a reason for the French, German or another language. Yes, everyone speaks English in Switzerland and other countries, but if you know that half of language, it is much more marketable.

The third is to use the Internet for job opportunities now available at your fingertips rather than when I posted the job search, which seemed to take forever before I begin to answer.

Of course, while you check all the above in exchange for your country has with others. I know I could go in France and if I wanted. I also went to England with a visa grandparent. If one of your grandparents were born in England, you are eligible to be as long as you want to work. I did after my Swiss adventure.

Switzerland Labor hotel is usually seasonal, so they do not rent for months in advance. The visa took me 3 months to the day I was hired. Do not expect a huge salary, but expect many festivals and food and accommodation and working hours to start.

My Swiss experience was unforgettable and I highly recommend it. Since it opened many doors both personally, professionally and intellectually.
